Calling all sports clubs in Northern Ireland
Many of Ulster’s athletes are teaming up with the People’s Forest in a ‘double bill’ of good deeds.
Ulster sport is contributing to a UK world record attempt, to plant 1 million trees in 1 hour on Saturday 5 December 2009.
This event will be held in multiple locations across Ulster with the Stormont Estate hosting sports men and women, alongside local businesses, to plant 3,000 trees.
Sport clubs with the help of the People’s Forest, a Belfast based Conservation business, are hoping to raise a minimum of £35,000 for BBC Children In Need.
Your club or team – Soccer, GAA, Rugby, Cricket, Ladies Football, Boxing, Golf, Hockey, Swimming, Basketball, Netball, Bowls, Badminton, Tennis, Sailing, Athletics, Camogie, whatever club/team you represent - can join in by sponsoring or getting five or more local businesses in your area to sponsor a tree on your club or team’s behalf at a cost of £25.00 per tree. A minimum of £5 from each tree sponsored will go to BBC Children in Need.
All proceeds go to local community conservation projects and to benefit disadvantaged children through BBC Children in Need.
All clubs who participate and sponsor will receive certificates in recognition of their role in achieving these two very worthwhile goals.
Members of your club/team will have the chance to join local sporting heroes at Stormont and help with the planting of the saplings.
The club/team with the most sponsorship will be invited to send representatives to the BBC Children In Need live show on 20 November. Expect a club visit from Pudsey Bear and an invitation to Stormont on 5 December 2009.
Everybody Can Play Their Part…..We Hope You Will Too.
