Marathon organisers hoping
to attract runners in New York!

Participants in the New York Marathon are being offered the chance to win an all expenses paid trip to the world’s friendliest and fastest-growing international event.

The 28th Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon takes place on Monday 4 May 2009.  And organisers are jetting into New York for their first ever promotional push on this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Visitors to the Belfast stand at the marathon expo in the Jarvis Centre will be in with the chance of returning the compliment and visiting Northern Ireland’s capital city next year.  Two lucky runners will be given free entry to the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon, as well as return flights, courtesy of Aer Lingus, transfers from Dublin to Belfast, and accommodation from Belfast’s newest hotel, Premier Inn.

All you have to do is answer a simple question and leave your entries at the Belfast Marathon stand at the Jarvis Centre.  Winners will be notified by phone and email on Monday 10 November.

“Our entry numbers just keep growing year on year, and we are attracting more and more runners from all over the world,” said event manager Claire O’Reilly.

“We’re really pleased, thanks to our new sponsorship deal with Aer Lingus, to be able to come to New York this year.  We’re looking forward to meeting as many of the runners as possible – and hopefully making many new friends,” added Claire.

Richard McCormick, Marketing Manager of Sport Northern Ireland who sponsor the Belfast City Marathon added: “I would encourage everyone to come along and meet the organisers at the Jarvis Centre and to find out more about the Belfast City Marathon. It is a great event and hopefully after this promotional push many more runners from all over the world will be taking part in the 2009 Belfast City Marathon”.

Full details of the 28th Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon, including a discount of ten per cent for entries received before midnight GMT on Sunday 9 November, can be found at www.belfastcitymarathon.com
