Next generation surface for Warrenpoint Town FC
Warrenpoint Town FC have officially opened a £400,000 state of the art "3G" training and playing facility at their Milltown home. This comes as the fruition of
a five year project and members of the club and local community are thrilled that the pitch is now open for use.

Sport Northern Ireland provided funding of £245,000 for the construction of the
new 3G pitch at the club, and Chief Executive Eamonn McCartan said of the
project:
"Sport Northern Ireland is delighted to support the construction of the new 3G
pitch at Warrenpoint Town FC. Providing quality facilities to encourage increased participation in sport, especially for young people is very important to us. The opportunity to involve the local community and after schools activities, as well as providing a disability football training programme are all very positive outcomes of this project.”
Mayor Feehan of Newry and Mourne District Council congratulated the club on their achievements and stated that the fantastic facility is befitting of this hard working club, and that the Council have been happy to assist.

Warrenpoint Town's Club Director, Michael Gray, welcomed everybody to the
official opening and paid warm tribute to the partners in this construction project - Sport Northern Ireland, NMDC and Warrenpoint Town FC. Michael commented:
“If it wasn't for the support of the Sport Northern Ireland and NMDC and sponsors like, Gerard O Hare, we would not be standing where we are today. It is a
wonderful facility and we would like to thank all those who have helped us secure and build it. It also stands testament to all at the club, who work so hard on and
off the pitch, and bodes well for the local and wider community in terms of youth participation, disability football, girls football and the general health of a growing number of participants, young and old alike.”
