Ulster Elite Senior Boxing Championships Launched
The Ulster Provincial Boxing Council today announced details of the forthcoming Ulster Elite (Senior) Boxing Championships which are being held at various venues with the finals taking pace at Andersonstown Leisure Centre on Friday 5th
February.
Some of the province's top boxers were in attendance at Holy Trinity Boxing Club, Belfast including Olympic bronze medallist Paddy Barnes and Commonwealth gold medallist Eamonn O’Kane.

The Ulster Elite Championships will take on added significance this year with selection for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi providing an additional incentive for the winners in each weight category, who will progress to the Irish National Championships which is part of the selection process for the trip to India.
The Ulster Provincial Boxing Council also announced the continuation of support
from title sponsor Sport Northern Ireland, as part of a three-year deal. Eamonn McCartan, Chief Executive of Sport Northern Ireland commended the development and achievements of boxing in Ulster and reinforced Sport Northern Ireland’s pleasure in it’s title sponsorship role.
